Romeo and Julian reinvents the greatest love story of the last 600 years, with present-day political intrigue, Snapchat, drag queens, biracial leads, and the searing heat of a first gay love. This time, the boys will either rise like a phoenix from an inferno... or disappear in it.

The Montaguez family supplies fentanyl. The Capulets distribute it, using the money to bribe judges and fuel Mr. Capulet's Senate aspirations. While their rival families consider going to open war, their sons just want to be loved.

Romeo and his besties Ben Volio and Queen lyric-singing Mercury crash the Capulet masquerade ball dressed as Nazis, proving the right-wing guests will tolerate anything. Julian goes even farther, interrupting his dad's speech in drag and a rainbow cape. It's love at first sight-but the vicious closet-case Tybalt, and a ruthless political assassin, will do anything to separate them.

The boys-protected by the born-female Capulet security chief Matt Tran, and mentored by a trio of protective drag queens-decide they'd rather die than say goodbye. When Matt hatches a plan for them to fake their deaths with fentanyl cover it up with a massive arson, fates are sealed. But whose?
