In the 15th century, the town of Trujillo existed sheltered—and sometimes under the suffocating weight—of the Kingdom of Castile. The coat of arms of the Crown flew firmly over its walls, while the local nobility strolled its streets with the air of a lord. They were lords of the sword, with long surnames and haughty gazes. But they weren't the only ones with influence. From the shadows—or in broad daylight, depending on the winds of the throne—the king's men also kept watch. Always attentive. Always there.
